When we
left you last month the JST red team were about to go to Tamworth for the round
robin final. Very proud of our boys we
should be! The support the team had was
great and everyone was in fine voice.
Our first game was against Blackpool, our team bowled an amazing 999
game; the second game was against Lincoln, our team game was 917. Two games won on pin fall but only 8 points
scored. Next up was Swindon,
unfortunately only 2 points were gained here and against an on form Liverpool
only 1 point. Last up was LA Leeds
(think back to the Nationals and the man
organising
it in black) the adrenalin was flowing we won the only point by just two pins.
Overall we had the highest pin-fall in these rounds, but not enough points to
go further.
It was a
Brilliant effort on everyone’s part.
As a surprise to us all we were awarded a special trophy for Highest
Team Game and Highest Team Series in our Division.
Leigh
Collins won award from the girls division for the highest scratch game.

Round
three for Division C and D took place
on
Saturday 29th June and we are extremely pleased to report that David
Cobb made it through the two divisional cuts and after the stepladder finished
2nd winning a brand new bowling bag. He was disappointed not to win!
A
brilliant effort on David’s part.
Round
three for Division A & B took place on Sunday 30th June, Martin
Ashton was the only Tolworth bowler bowling in division A, he made it through
both cuts and finished 10th overall after 10 games. More Tolworth bowlers were in division B and
some good performances led to Daniel Edwards, Chris Luscombe, Chris Hignett,
Chris Manders and Mike Cobb making the first cut and Chris Luscombe went on to
go through the second cut finishing 6th overall after 10 games.
The Lane
conditions were challenging to say the least.
Current England bowlers were struggling to make their average.
Well
done, Chris Luscombe, as we believe you should qualify for the Masters.
We say
farewell and good luck to Alex Smith, Chris Pollitt, Chris Purssey, Chris Best
and Leigh Goode who unfortunately are over age for our league now, or
shortly! We would like to take this
opportunity to thank you for representing Tolworth YBC and wish you every
success in the future. We will always
welcome you back, albeit only to see us.
We also
wish Chris and James Hignett well on their move to Wales.
To
all of you leaving please don’t forget to return your green YBC shirts.
A
Tolworth Junior makes the England U16’s Colts Squad. A very good come back
after breaking your wrist Martin, at the beginning of the season. Congratulations.

To some
more important and competitive than other competitions, you will see why when
you read this…
All
three Junior leagues entered a team and two out of three made it through to the
play offs. Junior Classic started well
and finished well, top of their Group.
Young Ones bowled well too especially as some of their boy bowlers were
at Enfield playing in the Bowlers Club.
Young Ones met the Junior Classic in the quarter-finals and it was a
hard fought game with the Junior Classic coming through good in the last couple
of frames, to knock out the Young Ones.
Unfortunately the Junior Classic team were then knocked out in the
semi-finals.
Well played to all three teams who entered. A special mention to the PeeWee’s who managed to beat their League Secretary and her team along the way.
